Querying Grade Distribution
For Academic Terms Fall 2004-2005 and following, observe the following patterns when providing parameters for best results:
- Academic Term
Use a term description to request information for a specific semester (ex. "Fall 2009", "First Summer Session 2005"). Leave the term field blank to request data from all available terms.
- Department/Academic Organization
Format is 4 or fewer character department abbreviation (ex. ENG, BIOL, etc.) Select the appropriate department from the dropdown list. Departments not appearing in the list have no records in the system since 1994.
- Course Subject
Format is department abbreviation plus course letter (ex. AADM-Y, ENG-L, etc.) Search parameter accepts incomplete entries.
- Catalog Number
Format is 3 digit number (ex. 131). Search parameter looks for an exact match (i.e., 131 will find only course number 131, not W131.) Courses with fewer than 3 digits in the Catalog Number (ex. MATH-M 025) should be queried with leading zeroes -- '025' rather than '25' in the criteria selection box.
- Class Number
Format is 4-5 digit number (ex. 3256). Search parameter looks for an exact match (i.e., 323 will find only course number 323, not 3236 or 1323.)
- Instructor Name
Format is LastName,[space]FirstName (ex. ANDERSON, WES). Search parameter accepts incomplete entries.
Due to the change in format for storing Instructor Name as of Fall 2004-2005, users should be aware that searches on instructor name which span the pre-2004 period could lead to inconsistent or incomplete search results.
- Exclude Small Class Results?
Grade distribution is not reported for classes with fewer than five (5) GPA grades assigned. Check this box to omit those classes from the search results.
For Academic Terms prior to Fall 2004-2005, observe the following patterns when providing parameters for best results:
- Academic Term
Use a term description to request information for a specific semester (ex. "Fall 2009", "First Summer Session 2005"). Leave the term field blank to request data from all available terms.
- Department
Format is 4 or fewer character department abbreviation (ex. ENG, BIOL, etc.) Select the appropriate department from the dropdown list. Departments not appearing in the list have no records in the system since 1994.
- Course Subject
For best results, use the Department search box rather than Course Subject for pre-Fall 2004 data. Otherwise, format is department abbreviation (AADM, ENG, etc.)
- Catalog Number
Format is 4 character alpha-numeric (ex. W131, M105). Search parameter looks for an exact match (i.e., W131 will find only course number W131, not 131.)
- Class Number
Format is 4-5 digit number (ex. 3256). Search parameter looks for an exact match (i.e., 323 will find only course number 323, not 3236 or 1323.)
- Instructor Name
Format is LastName [space] FirstInitial (ex. ANDERSON W).
